Miyazaki's Film is About the Zero Fighter

  • Animation direcotr Osamu Kobayashi tweets that Hayao Miyazaki is making a movie about the man who developed the Zero fighter.
  • Animator Takahashi Hashimoto tweets "the studio seemed to look for an animator who could draw an airplane eagerly. I saw the storyboards, but I am very sorry, if Kaneda-san (Yoshinori Kanada) lives and draws that scene."
  • Yoshinori Kanada's wife tweets "because my husband liked airplanes, he would want to participate in this new movie."
  • Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli animators watch the flight of a RC KA-14 designed by Jiro Horikoshi.

Yoshinori Kanada worked on Studio Ghibli films from Nausicaa to Princess Mononoke as a key animator. He passed away in 2009 from a heart attack.

Giant God Warrior Media Preview, Sketchtravel English Edition

Tokusatsu exhibition media preview and opening reception were held today.

An English hardcover version of the Sketchtravel book is scheduled for release on August 15. 72 artists collaborated on the project with Miyazaki as the final contributor.

Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo Details, Next Films Announced in December

The tokusatsu short film begins with the traditional Totoro logo but with a red background.

Toshio Suzuki gave a lecture at Rissho University and revealed that Studio Ghibli will release Miyazaki's and Takahata's films next year and officially announce them in December. Toho usually announces next year's lineup on or around December 16.

Nausicaa Manga Hardcover English Edition

Anime News Network reports a premium "box set" from the Viz is scheduled for release on November 6, 2012. It's not listed on the Viz website but Amazon.com has a listing.
