Ghiblies

Ghiblies (pronounced with a hard 'G', as in the original Italian) is a short film aired in 2000 during a TV special about Ghibli. It's about a fictional animation studio named "Ghibli" and the people who work there.

It was intended to give them proper experience in the making of a complete work, and also to try out different production techniques which would have little chance of being used in a major feature production by one of the 2 old masters, Takahata and Miyazaki.

It has not currently been released commercially.

Ghiblies Episode II was a later follow-up, which screened in Japanese cinemas in 2002 together with The Cat Returns. These two works were also released together on DVD.
