June 28, 2001 Updated "Sen" Release Date for Japan
According to Sports Nippon, a Japanese newspaper, Sen to Chihiro no
Kamikakushi will be released in Japan on July 20.

This has been confirmed on the official "Sen" site.


June 28, 2001 'Totoro' and 'Panda' DVD release dates set for Japan
According to the official Studio Ghibli website, the release dates for the "Panda" and the "Totoro" Region 2 DVDs have been set to September 28 and October 17, respectively.

June 26, 2001 Sen Ticket and Goods at Lawson in Japan
Lawson, a convenience store chain in Japan, is selling theater tickets and related goods of "Sen to Chihiro" and other Ghibli films.

There is a Sen and Ghibli page at Lawson's site (http://www.at-lawson.com/), where you can see several pictures and some information about Sen to Chihiro and Miyazaki (in Japanese).

You can buy several kinds of theater ticket at Lawson (and it's site)
e.g., ticket with a single CD, a ticket with character figure.

Also, at Lawson, you can buy a set of theater program of past Ghibli films. A set of 11 programs (from Nausicaa to Mononoke) for 5,500 yen. You can also buy a set of theater program and movie poster of each film, for 1000yen.
Other Ghibli-related books and goods are sold at Lawson as well.

Ghibli made a TV commercial of Lawson, which is currently being aired in Japan.

July 12, 7-8:54pm, Nihon TV, Baseball Game "Giants vs Swallows"
It's called "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi Nightly Game."
Judging from the similar program aired when Mononoke was released, there will be some promotion during the game, but not much.

June 26, 2001 Conan DVD in Japan
Bandai Visual will release "Future Boy Conan" DVD *in Japan*.

New master, 4 episodes per disk (except Vol 1, which contains two eps), with Japanese subtitles. Most likely Region 2 encoded.

To be released on Sept. 25:
Vol. 1: 2,800yen BCBA-0948
Vol 2: 3,800yen BCBA-0949
Vol 3: 3,800yen BCBA-0950
Vol 4: 3,800yen BCBA-0951

To be released on Oct. 25:
Vol 5-7: 3,800yen each.

There used to be a DVD Box of Conan, but the new one is supposed to have much better image quality, and is cheaper.


June 7, 2001 "Princess Mononoke" Showing in Atlanta

June 7, 2001 Official English Title for "Sen to Chihiro". Release Dates for Japan/France.

- The Japanese release of SPIRITED AWAY is scheduled for July 19th.
SPIRITED AWAY will be theatrically released in FRANCE at the end of

June 6, 2001 Anime School by Otsuka
Telecom Animation, the studio which made "Castle of Cagliostro" and
"Sherlock Hound" has opened Anime Juku (Anime School). The headmaster of the school is Yasuo Otsuka, the supervising animator of Castle of Cagliostro and Conan the Future Boy (and more).

The characteristic of this school is that it is internet-based. Students recieve and send their assignment via internet. It seems that they accept students from overseas, but you need to send money to their bank account (no credit card accepted).

Otsuka-San was on TV the other day, and he was checking the student's
drawing on PC screen.

"Miyazaki Retrospective: 1963-2001"

Most of the work that Miyazaki-San was involved will be screened.

At: Tokyo-to Shashin Bijyutsukan (Tokyo Museum of Photography) at Ebisu Garden Place, Tokyo.
Ticket: 600 yen per screening.
190 seat per screening will be available. Ticket sales starts June 1st (so there is a possiblity of sold-out)
