My name is Jon, a Highland Park, NJ resident.

I became introduced to the world of Studio Ghibli in 1998 when I rented Kiki's Delivery Service. I've been hooked ever since that day. I extend my regards to Ghibli for creating such magical films, Disney for providing terrific English dubs for all of them, and this site for helping me learn more about Miyazaki and his works.

I am also a fan who genuinely likes watching these movies in English, and has no problem doing so. As a matter of fact, I have written very favorable reviews about all of them. I'm aware that not everyone appreciates these dubs, but I feel that it is unfair to dismiss them altogether. Not that I have a problem watching them in Japanese, but I like to watch these movies for their visuals. Plus, I'm fond of the English voices cast for the characters.

  • Hi Jon;
    My name's Chris - I met you at AnimeNext back in June, and we occasionally cross paths over at the AnimeOnDVD forums.
    On behalf of all fellow fans, welcome to GhibliWiki and hope you enjoy your stay :-)

  • Yes, I remember you! How flattering it is to be face to face with someone who I met at AnimeNext! I didn't know you were a Ghibli fan too! I am so delighted to meet you here. I hope I can contribute something to this page. Actually, I tried to fix the credits for "Castle in the Sky" because I wanted to add in some additional credits I found on an R4 DVD release (why those were deleted on the US release I had no idea). Unfortunately, I don't know how to format at all, and I'm afraid the page in question is just a big mess. I'm sorry about that, but I really DO want to contribute, and I don't mind learning a thing or two about formatting.  :)

PS: Hope I can add some reviews that I wrote about these films here too! If not, that's OK.
