The following was originally posted to Miyazaki Mailing List by Marc Hairston.

----Begin quote---------

A year ago I mentioned that when the magazine "Cinefantastique" did
their yearly list of the "75 Top People in Science Fiction/Fantasy Films"
they listed Miyazaki in their sidebar of "People to Watch For". In the
current issue (April 1999) he's finally cracked the list at #69 (just
below Brannon Braga and Ron Moore, a writing team for "Star Trek). Who
is #1 on their list? George Lucas (surprise, surprise).

Here's the blurb they wrote for Miyazaki:

He's been making great anime in Japan for over a decade--sophisticated
work that puts to shame recent Hollywood attempts at adult-oriented
animation (e.g. the ponderous "Prince of Egypt"). Now, thanks to a
deal with Disney, his stuff is finally on video shelves in dubbed
versions that reach a far wider audience than the cult anime fanatics to
whom he is an idol. Also Disney's partner, Miramax, is releasing Miyazaki's
masterpiece, PRINCESS MONONOKE, to theatres, with the voices of Gillian
Anderson and Claire Danes. The result could open up American eyes to
what animation is truly capable of.

They also run a full page preview (on page 7 with a color picture) of
Mononoke, but it's the same preview that ran last month in their sister
magazine "Animefantastique" as a sidebar to Andrew Osmond's article.
