The Japanese Animation Press Kit Project

Our host

Welcome!

Welcome to this resource for fans and the press, by fans of Japanese animation. Our mission statement will explain why this site exists, and who this site is for.

For Fans

This site is being put together for the purpose of providing fans with help - help with reaching out to the press with positive information about anime, fandom, and significant events of your club and of the industry.

It's been done before. Successfully. We want to do it again. Learn how.

For the Press

This site is also being put together for the press. The idea is that if we can provide the press with more accurate information about Japanese animation, we can promote more positive reports about this medium, instead of the hysteria prompted by the slanted, xenophobic articles surrounding the "Pokemon" photo-induced epileptic shock incident in Japan. See US Media & "Pokemon".

Are you a member of the press? Do you want to receive copies of our press kits? We want to hear from you. Please contact us.

Why we started this project

This project was born from the ideas, organization, and hard work of the Banzai Anime Klub of Alberta, Canada. They successfully put together a press kit to promote Animethon 5, their anime fan convention. This success inspired them to work towards a generalized press kit template for any anime fan organization to use. Their sequel of this success story was to be a press kit for the Miramax release of The Princess Mononoke, but Disney's release schedules had changed, so it was decided that the next kit would be made for the Septebmer 1st, 1998 video release of Kiki's Delivery Service.

I had heard of this effort through the Anime Club Officers' mailing list (ACO) and asked them to work with volunteers from the Miyazaki mailing list. This site and associated mailing list were born from that union.

Get in touch...Keep in touch

We've just started, but you'll be able to track our progress here, or on our mailing list.

You may also want to browse our list of contacts and resources to find out more about the subject of Japanese animation.

Yours,

Michael S. Johnson,
Miyazaki mailing list and Nausicaa.net owner,
on behalf of the presskit@nausicaa.net mailing list.
