November 30, 2006 Totoro On Australian Soap 'Neighbours'
A member of the Miyazaki Mailing List noted:

I was pleased to hear numerous mentions of Miyazaki and see a big stuffed Totoro toy on yesterday's (UK) episode of the Australian soap 'Neighbours'! Although checking the official web site for the original Australian broadcast date, it appears that the plotline ('marking Miyazaki's Birthday') got his birthday wrong - it was apparently broadcast in September 6th, as opposed to the actual birth date, which is 5th January

You can see the less-Miyazaki centred plot summary and a photo of Sky, Harold and the Tototo on the official site at: (click the top-right image in the selection of six for a slightly bigger version)

Rebecca Elliott followed up with:

I was also pleased to see that in today's episode they continued the Miyazaki references by having Harold and Lou sitting through Howl's Moving Castle with Lou getting very into it :)
