Museum Tour - Introduction

by Justin Leach

On September 27th, 2001 in Mitaka city in Tokyo, from 7-9pm Studio Ghibli gave a special preview of their new art museum. I feel very lucky that I had the opportunity to see the museum, so I brought my digital camera along and snapped some photos. Unfortunately, I was too busy having fun to even think about taking pictures so I apologize ahead of time if the quality of the pictures isn't so good. I hope all of you who are deep admirers of not only Miyazaki-san and Studio Ghibli, but the art of animation itself, make the effort to visit at least once in your life. It's definitely worth it.
SPOILER ALERT!!: I think part of the fun and delight of visiting the museum was the element of discovery and surprise. I think Miyazaki-san intentionally created this magical place to make adults remember what it was like to be a kid. I certainly felt like I was a kid again. . . With that said, I would recommend that you may not want to look at the pictures if you want to retain that element of surprise.
I am such a huge fan I can't wait. . . Show me the pictures!!!
